PCs not relevant to a lot of young folks. Games have to play on a wee device. Wee, oui, Wii.

The Thing

Not-Best

Amityville Horror
King Kong x2

Your turn.

Miscellaneous Horror Talk / Re: Dark Discussions podcast and website thread

Hey Dark Guys. I don't know about the violent magical kind of horror being called the "real" horror. Sounds like something that lungwort Sarah Palin might say. Too restrictive. Horror is much broader; It contains Multitudes, Legion. I think you're backwards. The kind of horror you've listed is a subgenre of the larger horror whole. (Have you tried the deep-fried chicken heads? A Horror Hole speciality!)

Don't forget to tip your waitress.

That's a tough one. Lot of my favourites have already been mentioned... obviously. You people have taste and style. But I'll try to think of a best five.

Here it is. These are all science-fiction horrors, I notice. I definitely prefer SF to spooky or slashy. Sneezy. Dopey and Bashful.

:o John Carpenter's The Thing -- this was & is a stunner... no CGI, but great effects & humour
 >:( Blade Runner -- wet film noir, Bogey hunting powerful killers... love ya pkd
:) The Hidden -- an alien on a psycho heavy-metal murder spree... can't be bad
:( On the Beach -- Aussie survivors await the inevitable deadly radiation of atomic war... EOTW mastery
??? Deep Blue Sea -- not to be confused with the romance flick... 1 of the best animal-attack movies ever

On second thought, many people who went to the recent love story (The Deep Blue Sea) would swear that it, too, is a horror movie. But that's neither here nor there.

Too bad the Marx Bros. never made a horror movie.

I might have a whole different list tomorrow. I don't get all religious about such things. Thanks hencepro. Cheers all!

News and Announcements / Episode 63: The Cabin in the Woods
« Last post by Jerry on April 26, 2012, 12:49:50 AM »
Hey all. Just put up the latest episode of The Horror Movie Show. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think. I'll be online for the next few hours, so expect some lively chatter.

Okay, let's get the ball rolling.... Mark & I talk about The Cabin in the Woods. Bit of a warning — I do reveal way too much about the movie, so use caution when listening. I would suggest sticking a finger in just one ear.

Next, we spill our guts about the season finale of The Walking Dead. Hint: we liked it.

We finish the show on a strong-stomach note. Mark has a very delicate tummy and was violently ill about 30 times while watching Laid to Rest and ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2. Eventually he was so weak that it took a very nosy mailperson to discover his limp body the following Wednesday. Well, not really.

The writer/director of the Laid to Rest pair was a writer/director on the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series and so three of the leads from that series make large appearances.

So... I've been here a good 15 minutes now and nobody has replied... That's a bit disappointing. I'll just watch the Six O'Clock News and check back later.

Well, it's been a couple of hours now and what do I see when I sit down at this enormous IBM computer? Guh, I think the inch-thick dust on this thing dates to the mid-'70s. Anyway, let's see all these messages.

Nothing. Nothing.

What is going on here? I am genuinely hurt. What reason do I have to spend so many hours here trying to reach out to our small but deranged audience? I'll be back after I dry my tears....

....Huh.

Okay, now I'm angry. I'm in the middle of Colbert and not one message. That's it. I'm going to bed.
